His claims about our ability to distinguish the nature of Algol are a
bit dated. He apparently doesn't know about interferometry which
enables us to distinguish many smaller details.

Show me the other star you claim is there, not a paper.
You obviously don't know what a velocity curve is or you'd produce
that small detail.
But as you say, you've been trained to believe, not to know.
Your belief has been manipulated.
