"In the experiment a beam of light was passed through a specially prepared caesium atomic chamber. The beam of light arrived at the far end 62 nanoseconds sooner than would be expected under normal conditions. "Our experiment is not at odds with Einstein's special relativity, but it does show that the generally held misconception that nothing can move faster than the speed of light is wrong," the laboratory reported. "The statement only applies to objects with a rest mass. Light can be viewed as waves and has no mass. Therefore, it is not limited by its speed inside a vacuum." In the world of Einstein, except for a few "crackpots", nobody would see anything idiotic in the above quotation. Rather, Einsteinians would resume their endless discussion about group and phase velocity and, after disentagling some initial confusion, would reach again the most important conclusion: "In sum: phase and group velocity may exceed c, but frontal velocity cannot exceed c." Congratulations: Relativity is the present interpretation is not compatible also with the experimental results of Wang and Nimtz. Also others reportet superluminal effects in matter. Nimtz first time could quantify a new property of practically instantaneous movement of photons in the vaccum gap between two prisms called the tunneling feature of frustrated total reflection. There must be something absolute to which relativity concepts must be combined. GR is fully wrong, SR is partly wrong or at least a new interpretation must be found to what we call Lorentz transforms (Time dilation, lenght contracion, Velocity add theory. GR is dead. It was the biggest blunder in science ever constructed probably. SR needs a proper cosmology, an absolute infinite universal frame for each observer relativ to whch SR concepts apply. Only such a concept is able to solve some of the most important physics theory questions. In the world of Einstein, except for a few "crackpots", nobody would see anything idiotic in the above quotation. Rather, Einsteinians would resume their endless discussion about group and phase velocity and, after disentagling some initial confusion, would reach again the most important conclusion: "In sum: phase and group velocity may exceed c, but frontal velocity cannot exceed c." This last "in sum" sentence does not make sense at all. You must decide what you want. Pentcho Valev |

Congratulations: Relativity is the present interpretation is not compatible also with the experimental results of Wang and Nimtz. This is simply not true. The original authors understand this, but press reports of their results often do not. "Pentcho Valev" schrieb im Newsbeitrag oups.com... "In sum: phase and group velocity may exceed c, but frontal velocity cannot exceed c." [This is one of the few statements by Valev that is actually correct; mostly he writes nonsense.] Yes. Only people with an insufficient understanding of SR and wave propagation would be surprised at this -- it is basic and well known. Note that signals propagate with the front velocity. For a simple demonstration of group velocity c but front velocity c, go to http://gregegan.customer.netspace.ne...ETS/20/20.html This last "in sum" sentence does not make sense at all. It makes perfect sense, and is correct. Apparently you need to learn what those words mean and how they relate to physical phenomena. You must decide what you want. No. You must observe and understand how nature actually behaves. This is supposed to be science -- what you "want" is irrelevant. Tom Roberts |

Pentcho Valev Yes, cretin, it was explained to you for the past 20 years or so. Obviously you don't get it. |
