Relativity hypnotists wish to know why Einstein was silent about

AFAIK Einstein basically thought in German, which does not have different words for "speed" and "velocity" ("die Geschwindigkeit" is used for both). This means that VARIABILITY OF THE SPEED OF LIGHT IN A GRAVITATIONAL FIELD IS FATAL FOR EINSTEIN'S THEORY AND MODERN PHYSICS IN GENERAL: Albert Einstein: "If the speed of light is the least bit affected by the speed of the light source, then my whole theory of relativity and theory of gravity is false." "I consider it quite possible that physics cannot be based on the field concept,i.e., on continuous structures. Photons can only exist within atoms. (lacking clocks and monpoles) The nuclear resonance of the atom at higher altitude was higher in frequency. (Pound-Rebka-Snider) The propagation of light within the atom, a standing wave, seems consistant with SR and consistant with GR's prediction for gravity effects. You get the sign wrong if you take the 'falling photon' model literally. Indeed... that seems to reduce a theory (GR) to a mathematical formalism. AFAIK Einstein didn't consider coherrent matter as a gravitaional mechanism. Induced fields don't model well without some matter to induce. The relaton between particle speed and spin is probaby more supportive of SR as a theory. Quite the opposite of what a disclaiming tag like *special* would lead you to beleive. But then Einstein did every thing upside-down. That is why signs turn out wrong and the station comes to the train. :-) Sue... Pentcho Valev |
