If the universe was expanding much faster in the beginning and suppose
it slowed down on a logarithmic basis than could we assumed that the
age of the universe could be much younger?

The evidence however is that the acceleration is increasing not slowing
down.

Just seconding Bill Hobba's observation. Expansion is occuring
faster now than in ancient times. And now for the link:
