And as you have noticed, he just proved my point.
They are frustrated because they don't understand science,
so they sabotage it.

Actually, their behaviour is one of the things that (i.m.o.)
does make these groups interesting. The moderated
newsgroups are interesting from a scientific standpoint
only. These groups have a nice extra :-)

Do stick around and learn about human behaviour...

In his mind, denial is failing to suppress insurgent self-knowledge.

If you only want monkeys trained to eat one type of cheese then you need to
eat your cheese out of a fridge that only contains processed cheese this is
a wild cheese fridge and the kids have taken it over.

So what if I'm lurking? So what if I compalin on the standards of this
NG?

so nothing, but its stupid

in the same spirit you could complain about
you neighboor's car color - you having none,
etc etc

agree with it, its stupid

If I'm interested in physics and relativity and read the newsgroup, but
doesn't participate Im not entitled to have an opinion of the NG?

interested? you call yourself
science_illiterate @hotmail.com

expressing opinions without
contributing is stupid as well

dont like it? stay away

I might not be up to your level of knowledge in physics, but I'm not
jumping all over you to score some cheap shots. Your opinion of me and
my usual non-interaction is, in my opinion, nothing more than a rant. I
won't start throwing stones at you, and if you're feeling targeted by
my statement that I think that this NG have attracted more and more
nutcases and idiots, it has nothing to do with me or what I wrote. I'm
not naming names now, and I won't do it later either.

you just said you are a rant or an idion or a nutcase,

contrary i will say that these, you call them "nutcases and idiots"
maintains the sanity in the discussions above

I think my question is reasonable in light of what is happening to the
NG, but again that is my opinion. You're free to disagree...

/erik

you are not qualified to have an opinion,
how could one disagree?

Hi,

Just thought I'd ask what the h*** happened to this NG?

This NG, until recently, had really high standards on participants and
topics, even the so called trolls had it.

When was this golden age? As long as I can remember, this group
was dominated (by volume of posts, anyway) by the likes of
Henry Wilson, Ernest Wittke, etc.

When I first started people of the caliber Steve Carlip and John Baez posted
more. I do not think the number of crazies has dropped off - but the number
of quality posters has - which makes the crazies seem more plentiful. To me
the crazies are a laugh - a good way to while away a bit of time while I am
share trading. I simply ignore the worst like the dyslexic troll Don
Giovanni. Trouble with him (and others as well) is he changes who hew posts
under so people who are genuinely interested can't even ignore or killfile
him. To me they are the worst.

I don't see anyone currently as stupid and psychotic at JosX
these days.

I must admit he was pretty bad.

Thanks
Bill

I only check in on rare occasions, and I can't tell that there's
been any real change in content in years.

Now it's full of total
nutcases and idiots that don't even have the curtesy to ask when they
don't understand, or just say the most ridiculous things going for
verbal abuse, ad hominum, personal attacks, and so on when they get
told that they're wrong.

I'm no physiscist and do not claim to be...only a lurker that is
interested in physics, but even I can see that this NG is going down
the drain.

I'll probalby give on this NG soon :-(

/Erik
