I think I was out of line. I'm sorry. Ultimately the problem is that I know a little bit about you personally, and that colors my responses to you. ****! Why does everyone on usenet have to be so MEAN-SPIRITED? Most likely because of the large number of kooks who pretend to be interested in an answer to a question and rephrase it until they receive an answer with semantics they can exploit to misconstrue, misrepresent or twist to suit some agenda. Writing long explanations for people who are only interested in twisting an analogy used for their benefit into an argument and who otherwise pollute the newsgroup, making it difficult to actually discuss the topic for which the newsgroup exists, tends to elicit that type response after the first couple of experiences. It seems like I'm the only one who perceives this stuff as wonderful and exciting and beautiful, and that everybody else just gets up in the morning, does it for a paycheck, and is irritated when someone asks them questions that they're not paid to answer or are "beneath their dignity". As long as it's not trolling (which happens in the real world, too), to me, no question is "stupid". I don't think anyone deliberately replies to people whom they are certain is not trolling or setting up a thread to sandbag anyone who naive enough to respond as if the article was posted as an earnest question. It's just not always obvious which is which. The trolls and kooks are the more prevalent, so some real articles are mistaken for trolls. |
