Any opinions on the book "The Final Theory - Rethinking Our Scientific Legacy"?

Who is Mark McCutcheon. What are his credentials?

You can read a sample chapter for free at
http://www.thefinaltheory.com/pages/1/index.htm
which is total, unadulterated crap.

As one (tiny) example, here is one of his "problems"
with Newtonian gravity (p. 14):

- Despite the ongoing energy expended by Earth’s
gravity to hold objects down and the moon in orbit,
this energy never diminishes in strength or
drains a power source – in violation of one of our
most fundamental laws of physics: the Law of
Conservation of Energy.

There are, of course, many more, but that alone
should be enough to give most people an idea
of the level of the book.

In short, if you're impressed by this book,
you're an idiot - period.

Who is Mark McCutcheon. What are his credentials?

He has no scientific credentials. According to
the vanity press that published his book
http://www.upublish.com/book.php?met...ook=1581126018
"Mark McCutcheon is a 38-year-old, Canadian-born
Electrical Engineer living in Australia"

The disturbing thing about the thread is that a lot of the posts
are clearly from one person posting as several people to blatantly
plug the book.

In this case, it was pretty obvious, and I doubt if it fooled
anyone, but one could imagine the technique getting a little more
refined.
