Hi all, I have a few questions about what I learned about black holes
from this disney movie... Is it true that all robots can fly, even in a black hole? Does this movie give proof that GOD=G_UV ? Just kidding! ---------------------------- I finally saw this movie, but I'm not sure what it says as social commentary. Any comments from the newsgroup community to help me deal with this traumatizing experience? Some other quotes here for your amusement: "stay as long as you can at the event horizon, there might be an einstein-rosen bridge to consider" "we've got to turn up the boosters and make a run for zero gravity" "we developed antigravity forces to maintain our position.. a mexican standoff" Cheers - luke |

(I assume you mean the movie "The Black Hole" tho you didn't actually say.) I enjoyed the background music (I just have low taste I guess). Outside of that the movie was pretty awful. The destruction of the notebook by the robot, with those goofy cutters on its hands, made the entire exercise pointless, and showed that robots are ultimately evil. Or maybe it showed that being a mad scientist doesn't pay. Or maybe it was just another object lesson in how important it is to make regular backups. -- To email me directly, take out nospam and put back foobox. |

Dear Paul Cardinale:
"Paul Cardinale" wrote in message om... .... Antigravity is not compatible with GR; As far as I know, GR is the only theory that predicts black holes. You can't have your GR and eat it too. You could have a black hole in Newtonian gravity, but then Newton had c being essentially "infinite", so a classical escape velocity of 300,000 km/sec might not mean anything... David A. Smith |
