Taken on board at http://users.pandora.be/vdmoortel/di...alFumbles.html Yes indeed a good pointer. After thinking about it overnight I am starting to suspect some of the more complicated ideas I had such as making you feel better by thinking your smarter than all these supposed smart blokes etc could be off the mark. It may be no more than a simple physiological phenomena, just like seeing the vase or the two faces in the famous picture. Either that or an actual disease like Asperger's syndrome. What I find is that I am spending way too much time arguing with them for no gain. I must moderate this more and concentrate on the reason I post - to learn physics. Thanks Bill |

And wrote all nonsense. ... Bill Hobba has confessed that he is a "self appointed defender of orthodxy" and he is here to save the world from blasphemy. so this is for him and for those of his kind. A castle, high on the hill, dark and sinister, students feel. There the tall men with flying robes, hit us with equations that make us grope. They tell us that the nature works in symbols, and we say, yes sir, yes sir, all in ball. The castle; fearsome, awesome, a temple for all, and those who say, no sir, no sir, are thrown out with vengeful gall. One fine morning, they saw in amazement, far in the field, 'posts' were rising to their astonishment. Then the castle shook, heads drooped and the robes flew away. A whistle blew and soon the loyal dogs were around, but what can be done to the 'posts' deep in the ground? A dissenting post and the dogs run at it, fangs bare and fury in the eyes. But what can dogs do to the firm post? Barking and flaming, they just take a round, after lifting their hind legs, they return to their ground. with regards, V.K.Tamhane |

Bill Hobba has confessed that he is a "self appointed defender of orthodxy" and he is here to save the world from blasphemy. so this is for him and for those of his kind. Question: Can you demonstrate an internal mathematical inconsistency in SR? Another question: can you produce a vetted reproduced experiment that shows SR has produced a false prediction within its domain of applicability? If the answer to both questions is NO, you have failed to show SR is false. There are only two ways of demolishing a scientific theory: 1. Show in internal mathematical inconsistency. 2. Demonstrate emprically that a prediction of theory is false. Otherwise the theory stands. Bob Kolker |

"Bill Hobba" wrote in message ... "V.K.Tamhane" wrote in message SNIP You say a changing magnetic field does not produce an electric field. Consider a wire moving through a magnetic field at constant velocity. You don't specify it, but I may consider a homogeneous field, right? By the lorentz force law the charges in the wire must experience a force. Now go to a frame where the wire is at rest. Going to that frame does not change the fact the charges still experience a force except now the charges are at rest and the wire is experiencing a changing magnetic field. You lost me - why would that field be changing? Does it go to zero, or to infinity, or does it oscillate?! Thus we have stationary charges experiencing a force. Now for a stationary change the Lorentz force law says F = qE or E = F/q thus they are in an electric field. But you claim that is not possible. How can that be or are you saying the Lorentz force law is wrong? Hmm, I find this interesting! Maybe I don't see how it can work because I'm tired? Please clarify, thanks! Harald |
