Default Grandfather Paradox

Why is the Grandfather Paradox regarded as being a Paradox ?
What assumptions are being made with this example?

Default Grandfather Paradox

If I could go back and kill my grandfather shortly after his birth, then
I could not ever exist to go back and kill my grandfather. Does that
answer your question? The assumption that I could go back and do such a
thing, is self contradictory. In this sense, the word "paradox" is
meant to convey the idea of an absolute contradiction. This is not a
real paradox if paradox is defined in its standard form. There is
little that is puzzling about an absolute contradiction.
