It is the newer creative ideas that we should be trying to extend.

Indeed.

We should re-write the rules of the EM force to match the
observations, rather than make ad-hoc adjustments to the rules of
space.

Space does not expand.

Light slows down at cosmological distances, causing the illusion of
expansion.

In science the only legitimate creativity has to
do with the approaches undertaken for problem
solving.

The sort of creativity you're talking about is
suited to entertainment, not science.
