My crackpot theory is that the light will never reach us because it

No theory or evidence to support that idea.

1.

If light had a finite range, observable space and matter would be
finite too.

EVIDENCE: finite universe.

It supports.

2.

If light had a finite range, its energy would die out

EVIDENCE: Hubble redshift (weakened light) and the faint faint CMB.

It supports.

3.

If light slowed down as it died out, supernova light curves as
standard candles would display time dilation

EVIDENCE: They do

It supports

The supporting evidence is readily apparent, if you open your eyes to
it.

Light doesn't have a finite range... you are being confused because
the observable universe has a finite age.

The evidence is confusing one of us.

Because Hubble redshift isn't an increase in the galaxy's recessional
velocity; it's a decrease in the galaxy's light's velocity.

Again, so simple.

Anything expands only because it is moving to a less
pressurized zone.
If it were not less pressurized, the object could not expand at all.
When you throw a baseball towards the center of an explosion
it will slow down.
If you throw it with the explosion it will move with the explosion.
Again, all far too simple for the complex brain to understand.
Maybe we should call it the complex brain syndrome.
CBS
oh wait..
CBS might get mad at that..
ah... frig em!
CBS it is!
