only exists, but it is a flat disk that for some reason always faces

Research "Frauenhofer lines" and get back to us. The short
answer is "yes".

Considering that the Sun's surface is 5800 K, and that
the highest boiling point of anything I know of offhand is
bismuth at 1837 K, I doubt anything solid is at the Sun's
core or anywhere else in Sol, though it would probably be
a very strange fluid state anyway because of the extreme
temperatures and pressures therein.
