If you consider the 7 billion people alive today then for every
experience I have someone is reacting subjectively, on an experience
by experience basis, in exactly the same way as I would.

So the question is "If I die why does it matter because someone else
is having an identical experience of consciousness to that I have had
and might have had."? Or, "If I could be duplicated, ala a Star Trek
type beam up process, then why should I care if I die----my clone will
have the same experiences"?

When I bring this up the answer is usually, "Because it is not you
having the experience." Or, "Because if I die, I won't have the
experience, my identical clone will"?

This mistaken feeling is a misconception that nature built in to
insure an individuals survival. Who or what is this "me" who would
like to continue having these experiences? Answer: There is no such
"me" or "I" or "soul" apart from the physical body. And having
another physical body that is 99.999% similar experiencing these
experiences is good enough---it's the same as if you continued
living. You do not have to keep living for such good phenomena to
continue.

Why are we here?
What is my reason for living?

The sad truth is that you are not important. I am not important. Matches'
endless posting to this NG are not important.

What is the final goal of existence as we know it?

**** happens.- Hide quoted text -

Ever notice that you are always "alive" when the overwelming odds are
that you shouldn't be?- Hide quoted text -

Yes, that is because when you get snuffed out here your doppelganger
in Everett's branching universe keeps living. Â*You can prove this---
jump off a large building and you will land in a soft bed of manure
carried in a passing truck, or land on a big soft fat person. Â*But you
will percieve to yourself that you have survived- Hide quoted text -

YOU'RE RIGHT ! I jumped of the roof of my office just an hour a go and
landed on the ass of a Black hooker!- Hide quoted text -

Yes, you ended up in one of the very rare alternative universes where
a hooker just happened to walk by at the right time. Â*But why am I
here in the same universe with you? Â*The odds that my branch went to
the same universe are very low.
I am going to go look outside your building. Â*I think I will see you
pancaked on the sidewalk.
But good look wherever and whenever you are now.

I meant "good luck". Â*That reminds me of an old joke. Â*Some guy dies
and contacts his friend through a medium. Â*The friend asks, "Where are
you?" Â*The dead guy, through the medium says, "I am in a big field
surrounded by numerous young naked females with lovely brown eyes"
The friend says, "Oh, so you're in heaven?", Answer, "No I am a bull
in Wisconsin."

Good one! All the same, look at

Lots of extra similar guys enjoying sex! What is wrong with that!

Now my research shows that all of the above were caused by reduced
blood flow to the temporal lobe---which reduction must have increased
because my temporal lobe is working great now.
So I guess I was not recycling with the great and infinite cosmic
consciousness like I thought.-

PS that wikipedia artice re A I W S was no good. *Try herehttp://aiws.info/

My symptoms were that everything looked far away and sounds were very
"insistent"---that's the only way I can describe it. *The sounds were
not louder. *Plus even the ugliest girls looked like Marilyn Monroe.

Well, try http://www.virginia.edu/insideuva/20...stevenson.html

I have had only a few paranormal experiences that I could not account
for with some ingenuity, but I frequently experience synchronicities -
or the occurence of a word or phrase suggesting a 'meaningful'
connexion. Mostly, though, they are probably just concidences, though
a few have given me pause for thought.

My late business partner, IQ 225, recounted an experience that shook
him up a bit.

A trouble shooter for a famous electronics company, he hosted two
colleagues from Holland, introducing them to the work being done on
LCD development. Chatting away and walking with the group across an
open space to the staff canteen, he suddenly found himself above
them.

In his words, 'I am certain that for maybe 5 seconds I was looking
down at all three of us, and then I was back, and we continued on the
way to the canteen.'

Had any one else told me this, I'd have wondered .... .
