On closer look Wilczek has a different idea than mine. His idea is
interesting. I am claiming to derive Einstein's gravity with the cosmological term as a large scale limit of the exotic vacuum field from an instability at least in the QED sector of the micro-quantum vacuum. Wilczek in contrast never does any micro-quantum theory that I can see in his paper? He already starts with "classical fields" and makes no attempt to derive gravity as emergent from the micro-quantum standard model. All this is at conventional textbook level, for example, section 14.6 of Unification and Supersymmetry, 2nd edition, by Rabindra Mohapatra, Springer-Verlag 1992. If you want a prominent establishment name dropped, Frank Wilczek mentions the MacDowell-Mansouri mechanism in http://xxx.lanl.gov/abs/hep-th/9801184 Yes, thanks. This paper seems very relevant in accord with what I am doing in a simpler way independently. Wilczek is one of the best theoretical physicists around for sure. I heard him speak twice now this year. where he notes that the mechanism was also independently formulated by Chamseddine and West. The mechanism was invented to make it possible to get gravity from the anti-deSitter part of Lie superalgebras used in supergravity theories. |
