Don wrote: Do you think this would work? Photovoltaic (PV) Solar Panels take certain wavelengths of sunlight and turn them into electricity. You can use mirrors and fresnel lenses to increase the amount of sunlight hitting the PV panel, increasing the amount of electricity it will produce. However the panel only requires certain parts of the sun and the parts it doesn't require, the heat part, are bad for the panel - making it less efficient and will wear out prematurely. So, I came up with an idea to increase the output of the PV panel AND eliminate the heat. A radiator, to dissipate the heat from the increased sunlight hitting the PV panel. Another type of solar panel is the Thermal Solar Panel. This one is filled with water that is pumped through little tubes and the sunlight heats the water. If a Thermal Solar Panel was bonded to the backside of a Photovoltaic Solar Panel and mirrors and fresnel lenses increased the amount of sun hitting them 2 things would occur: 1) More energy would be produced by the PV panel. 2) Water would be heated simultaneously. Hit 2 birds with 1 stone. A win win sitch. Did I just invent something? Sounds good to me! Now, for my next trick I'm gonna mount the panels on some giant windmill blades and then install the whole mess on the edge of an 80' high waterfall. Maybe I can make enuff juice to sell it back to the grid. |
