"Jean" wrote in message om... Hey is there any easy method to remember the relations for calculating curl, divergence etc in various coordinate systems......?? I think the most effective method is to write them down a hundred times :-) Another method: (1) Memorize the operators in curvilinear coordinates: http://164.8.13.169/Enciklopedija/math/math/c/c863.htm at the bottom of which you find a list of pointers to a bunch of curvilinear coordinates, where you find the scale factors for step (2) (2) Memorize some scale factors. For instance: Spherical: http://164.8.13.169/Enciklopedija/math/math/s/s571.htm Cylindrical: http://164.8.13.169/Enciklopedija/math/math/c/c909.htm Etc... (3) Insert the scale factors of (2) in the expressions of (1). Nice exercise :-) Dirk Vdm |
