Default Antigravity's Cat [Humor] 3: The Cheshire Cat and a Watched Pot Boils

From Osher Doctorow

My friend Governor S., who is rumored to be a time traveller into the
past, raised an important objection:

S: Where is the Quantum in all this?

O: The Watched Pot boils. There really is collapse of the wave
function due to measurement/observation, and perception really is
related to energy/force. But before I get into that (and I may not
fully enter a boiling pot :), I want to talk about my Royal Ancestor
(in Spirit at least) who wrote Alice in Wonderland, Through the Looking
Glass, and of course introduced us to the Cheshire Cat.

S. You mean...?

O. Yes. [Looking around furtively.] He and the Queen [Victoria] were
one/both of us.

S. You mean that the Cheshire Cat's head hanging in the air or space
with no body represented the first clue in history about antigravity?

O. Well, history is your department. In any case, Queen Victoria was
perhaps the most physically ill Queen in history. Physically ill
people who are interested in quantitative fields like mathematics and
science tend to be Creative Geniuses.

S. But her Morality was so formal!

O. Don't knock it until you've tried it. Victorial Morality,
Victorian Ethics, are a pleasant contrast in many ways to our current
Students-Rule-The-Classroom-Laughing-Smiling-Dancing-Bullies-Rule-The-Campus-"Morality"
which now includes suicide bombers. I'd go to see Julie Andrews' Sound
of Music any day (in fact I have, several times) compared to most of
the stuff out there now. But Queen Victoria found it difficult to move
physically, so she had to move mentally. Fortunately, her
mathematician-writer friend and she got along famously.

S. Then the British invented Stealth technology?

O. Slow down. According to the Official Secrets Act, you can't say
that. In any case, Stealth is not my method. I prefer openness [big
smile - very big smile].

(To be continued?)
