I think this is a dumb and dumber proposition. On the one hand
there's trying to save people who carry their brains around in
their pants, on the other hating religion which supports life
ending ramifications for those who carry their brains around in
their pants.

But Michael, from the Church's POV it isn't stupidity at all; after
all they have to guarantee the next generation(s) of Believers, and to
fulfill the prophecy that "The poor will always be with us", you see.

Sorry to have started this thread. This was meant to be an email, not a
post.
But yeah... you are right.

****ing hell, Varney, you said something sensible. What came over you?
Oh wait... it wasn't physics.

"Man schließt daraus, daß eine am Erdäquator befindliche Unruhuhr
um einen sehr kleinen Betrag langsamer laufen muß als eine genau
gleich beschaffene, sonst gleichen Bedingungen unterworfene, an
einem Erdpole befindliche Uhr." -- Einstein

Thence we conclude that a sundial at the equator must go more
slowly, by a very small amount, than a precisely similar sundial
situated at one of the poles under otherwise identical conditions.

Thence we conclude that after 4,000,000,000 years the pole
leads the equator by 1 year.
Thence we conclude that the Earth has stretched into a disk
around the sun.

Thence we conclude that Einstein was a member of the Flat Earth
Society.
Thence we conclude that Einstein was a crank.
Thence we conclude that his disciples are all cranks.
