Hi
Can you tell me how can I make crystalline and lucid ice? I've tried both hot and cold water but the ice is opaque and mate. Thanks. Hesam |

Hesam 1) Freeze degassed (e.g., freshly vigorously boiled) distilled or deonized water. This will still give you internal optical flaws from mismatched crystal interfaces. Directional solidification (Bridgman growth) will do better. 2) Place a freezing vane into flowing water (no special prep necessary). Water progressively freezes on the vane as gases and impurities are mostly excluded. Works better with filtered, then distilled or deonized water. 3) Take clean shaved ice (e.g., arctic snow) and compress it under 1000 feet of overburden for 100 years. You get pellucid glacial ice. -- Uncle Al http://www.mazepath.com/uncleal/ (Toxic URL! Unsafe for children and most mammals) "Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?" The Net! |

No IDIOT uncle joke .
Freeze and thaw and freeze it again ,,it will be briliant clear on the 4 th cycle and is called dead water. OR freeze under pressure. Uncle idiot...the boiled water has more air init than refrozen water. The first freese makes bubbles the second gets the brine out too and the 4th is as clear as crystal . |
