But, I've noticed that when I shine a laser pointer in a bug's eye, although it seems to disorient them, it does not seem to blind them, even when the laser is shone in their eye for an extended period of time. Does anyone have an idea on why this is so? 1. Just because you were told something it does not meant that it is true. 2. How many newspaper horror stories have you read about kids being blinded by laser pointers? Yeah ... you know, they have now penetrated the $.99 store market ... any kid with a dollar can buy one. Which leads one to think there has been a _lot_ of laser irradiation of kids' eyes, but as you say, a paucity of horror stories. OTOH ... cool! What a great idea! Torturing insects by shining laser pointers into their eyes! Excuse me ... "experimenting" with insects. Right. ;-) |
