Light has no time. Light can "travel" for billions of years and never lose a
second. Time thus cannot have time. And if it doesn't have time it cannot have speed. Its all in your mind. Take everything that has come out of the big-bang for a dream and you will be god-realized. You can then be just like Krishna, Buddha, Jesus. When Everything is your dream then you can even laugh at all the futility and chaos that physicists create as they try to find all sorts of thoughts that "certainly" prove that the thought called a neutron ( that cannot exist because it must have an anti-neutron) is not a thought but matter, or at least a probability cloud called matter, and its rock-solid "uncertainty" principle. Won "Robert Finch" wrote in message . .. Hi, Can you help me understand time dilation ? The part I don't understand is why the astronaut returning from from a long voyage in space at near light speed would be younger than people on Earth. If time dilation is based on relative velocity, couldn't the people on Earth also be younger than the astronaut when he returns ? Meaning there would be two alternate realities ? Because while the spaceship is travelling away from the Earth at lightspeed, isn't the Earth also travelling away from the spacecraft at lightspeed, relatively speaking ? And Hence the people on Earth would'nt have aged as much as the astronaut by the time the Earth and spacecraft rendezvous. Otherwise doesn't time dilation have to be based on more than just relative velocity ? Thanks, Rob |
