If your intention is to get people who are not experts to fall into your
camp, you should not imply that the person every average person is brought up to believe is only dwarfed by Mozart and Jesus is a hoax. And I don't mean Jesus like I'm a religious person - but the dude famous. You don't persuade people by saying a very credible figure is totally full of crap. I'm tired bored and lonley and deserve the responses of "get a life", "keep it to yourself", and "any of the virtual insults that might randomly appear out of nothing". I like the idea of a resource where people can learn things. It bums me out that egos and advertisement always intervene. 2 cents. Aaron |

I don't think any crank ever persuaded anybody of their idea.
Precisely because they don't have the social skills needed to persuade people to believe ********. They grow accustomed to seeing everybody as an enemy so they start out on the defensive. "±" wrote in message ... most people have blocked that dude so they don't even see his prattle Yeah, thanks guys. I can't get my mind around blocking - but that's my own opinion. It just seems like it is opposite the nature of usenet. I like observing complexity that arises from a bunch of "widgets" following a simple set of rules, and I guess the whole plonk think makes the rules less simple, and my faith in that I am observing emergent behavior goes down. I agree with you. I haven't ever and never will block anyone no matter
how putrid they are. The most pathetic people are those who block people and then announce it like anyone gives a **** especially the person they've blocked. I think a lot of people use it as an argueing tactic rather than to actually save them time looking through usenet. As if they don't have enough free time already! If you're gonna do it do clean out your usenet, you should do it to people you're not in a conversation with. If you didn't want to spend time on them, why are you talking to them in the first place? I don't mean you personally, but those guys that do the plonk thing. |

Rude is a part of usenet, in case you hadn't noticed. Like our "sporger". Like EinsteinHoax. It's saying "I want to make sure you know I won't listen to you." I think a lot of people use it as an argueing tactic rather than to actually save them time looking through usenet. As if they don't have enough free time already! Don't assume everyone has as much free time as you imagine. If you're gonna do it do clean out your usenet, you should do it to people you're not in a conversation with. If you didn't want to spend time on them, why are you talking to them in the first place? I don't mean you personally, but those guys that do the plonk thing. *I* do the plonk thing. Androcles and I would go round and round certain topics. We'd both waste hours in some of our responses. And we'd come back to the same place in our argument, and off it would go again. I didn't realize that some people have to get in the last word. This ("plonk") lets them know that the microphone is all theirs. And I have to resist not trying to get in the last word too. Not all that successful. David A. Smith |
