I've discovered a new theory that might create a sustainable and
perpetual source of free energy for the world. The source is Air.

Air has a reservoir of oxygen, which is maintained by photosynthesis,
which is powered by the sun. Any energy in air has come from the sun,
so you might as well just use solar cells, or a black box to warm water
pipes. In a sense the sun is "free" because it is not going to go away
any time soon, but I think people are on to this already.

If we ever understand exactly what the air we breath is doing to keep
us alive, because I don't think we do yet..

the general principles of respiration are well studied, though I don't
claim that absolutely every last detail has been sorted.

We would have an unlimited
source of energy from breathing machines.

using up the oxygen in the air on a large scale is suicidal. If the
percentage drops from 21% to below 19.5%, we're all in trouble, see
below about how handling liquid nitrogen in confined spaces is
dangerous:

http://www.ehs.neu.edu/cryo/cryogen.htm

"1.4 Asphyxiation
The air consists of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and trace gases making up
the remaining 1%. If sufficient liquid nitrogen is vaporized so as to
reduce the oxygen percentage to below 19.5%, there is a risk of oxygen
deficiency. In confined or poorly ventilated areas (such as a
laboratory, transport elevator or storage area), the expanding gas will
displace oxygen, presenting an asphyxiation hazard to personnel working
in the area.

Simple asphyxiants such as nitrogen do not have good warning
properties! One might not feel "light-headed," but may simply pass out
without any warning whatsoever, and then die without regaining
consciousness. To prevent asphyxiation hazards, make sure that the room
is well ventilated when using cryogens indoors. If large quantities of
cryogenic vapors are released, the areas suspected of being oxygen
deficient shall be evacuated immediately."

You can literally see the
amount of power in the air every time lightning strikes the earth, It
is amazing.

you have now switched from breathing (using oxygen) to lightning
(electric fields). Lightning is also pretty well known - basically you
need electric charge separation (not water separation, or air
separation, etc...). To separate electric charge you need an energy
input, this again comes from the sun. People have thought about how to
harness such energy, but afaik, the power produced is negligible unless
you are in the middle of lightning storm.
