You're referring to the original Benet system. In that case, your
intelligence maxes out at around age 12, so you shouldn't use a
denominator greater than 12. The old formula you refer to is obsolete.
Using the original Benet formula resulted in inconsistencies in
relative ingelligence for children of different ages at the same
standard deviation above or below normal. It's now been normalized,
so the standard deviation is 15 or 16 points, depending on the test
used.
The name is 'Binet' .
The results have also been standardised so that the female mean will be the
same as male.
